WORKSHOP em POA

De volta a Porto Alegre para passar férias, dei aulas No Grupo Experimental da Cidade e também no Grupo Gaia. No dia 23 de Agosto inicia na Casa de Teatro, dirigida por Zé Adão Barbosa e Jeffie Lopes, um workshop de dança contemporânea voltado para bailarinos e pessoas que tenham interesse no uso do corpo como ferramenta expressiva.
O Workshop explora a aplicação de informações da anatomia e alinhamento, visando utilizá-las de maneira consciente para manutenção e refinamento da mobilidade do corpo. Fazendo uso das dinâmicas espirais e ondulações para a exploração do corpo e suas potencialidades; o curso combina práticas voltadas para absorção desses conceitos da Biodinâmica com exercícios de improvisação, abrindo espaço para a transformação e a re-significação desses conceitos.
A idéia central do Workshop é despertar o corpo do participante para a exploração dessas ferramentas com foco na descoberta de novos padrões de movimento e diferentes níveis de fisicalidade e expressividade.
O curso acontece nas Segundas, Quartas e Sextas das 10 às 13h, do dia 23/08 ao dia 03/09, na Casa de Teatro que fica na Rua Garibaldi, 853 em Porto Alegre. Maiores informações sobre as inscrições e valores pelo fone (51) 30299292.

O bailarino e coreógrafo gaúcho Douglas Jung, depois de ter vivido e trabalhado por cerca de 5 anos em Porto Alegre, onde estudou e dançou em escolas e grupos da cidade como Gaia Dança Contemporânea e o Grupo Experimental de Dança da Cidade, mudou-se para a Europa em 2008.
Nesse primeiro ano em solo Europeu, ingressou na Folkwang Hochschule – Essen, escola onde se formou e lecionou durante alguns anos a coreógrafa de renome internacional e já falecida Pina Bausch. Lá teve contato e foi aluno de nomes consagrados da dança pós-moderna e contemporânea, tais como Dominique Mercy, Malou Airaudo, Lutz Foster, Rodolpho Leoni entre outros.
Em 2009, fez audição e foi aceito com bolsa de estudos integral na escola Austríaca SEAD – Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance. Nessa escola, atualmente cursa o Segundo ano de um programa educacional de caráter universitário com 4 anos de duração, que forma performers e bailarinos contemporâneos. A SEAD é uma escola que vem crescendo na cena Internacional e criando tradição por formar performers versáteis e de alto nível técnico nas mais diversas vertentes estéticas da dança contemporânea.
No último ano(2009/2010), seu primeiro nessa escola, Douglas teve a oportunidade de ter aulas regulares com professores já consagrados na cena européia e que atuam ou atuaram em grandes companhias como Rosas, Ultima Vez, Meg Stuart e New York City Ballet.
Paralelo à rotina de aulas regulares, autuou em algumas peças coreografadas por alunos da escola e também realizou seus próprios projetos e pesquisas totalizando 5 trabalhos encenados, dos quais 2 foram projetos próprios.
Nos últimos 3 anos esse jovem artista vem e produzindo seu próprio material, desenvolvendo e aperfeiçoando uma pesquisa de linguagem baseada em questões como o uso da imagem do corpo a serviço dele próprio e suas poéticas possíveis; que elenca o uso do gesto dançado, e a geração de movimento partindo da palavra ou de imagens “extra-corpo” para partituras curtas e desdobráveis e ou pequenas vídeo-coreografias. Seu primeiro trabalho de repercussão em Porto Alegre, foi o espetáculo “Bondage”. Apresentado na cidade em 2008 como parte do Projeto Incubadora de Novos Coreógrafos do Grupo Gaia- posteriormente citado no site i-dança.net como uma das promessas da dança gaúcha, integrando o grupo de jovens coreógrafos nomeados: “A geração que não vinha”; em alusão à renovação da cena local que chegara com a atuação desses artistas.
A última peça montada por Douglas na Áustria, um solo entitulado “Master Plan”, arrebatou a platéia que foi à SEAD assistir ao Festival de peças Site Specific: Lust am Risiko. Com uma pesquisa voltada para fisicalidade e identidade coreográfica, ele apresentou este solo de 30 minutos que envolvia a participação da platéia e mesclava dança, vídeo e performance sob a estética do fetiche.

Motivation Letter

To Susan Quinn - Director of SEAD - Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance

Coming from an environment where research and experimentalism in contemporary dance are much valued and used to create; and with it already had the experience of choreograph and direct my own piece, worked in two dance companies, next to good choreographers; I came to Europe to present the audition of Folkwang Hochschule in Essen- traditional German school of modern dance.
What I found at that school was the environment conducive to a great refinement in that what concerns to technique of Ballet, to take technical clarity and precision in modern dance and the opportunity to improve and add value to my own way to move that needed to be worked and experienced with more specificity looking for quality and cleanliness.

After having started the experience of being a student of a very traditional school, that sometimes is very restricted, and allowing me to be part of this universe, but without stop to look for my wishes as an artist who think about dance and use it to question the world around, I began to miss having more space, stimulation and place for growing my ideas. A place where I can really experience freedom with the knowledge I receive at classes towards choreographic creation and/or performing arts that are, finally, my objects of study as artist.
Learn how to use my body in a healthy way, make it increasingly able to work with movement, using tools and other channels of perception and management of the body to then manipulate other bodies according to this knowledge with some conceptual and theoretical basement, and bring together my personal questions, experiences and memory towards an even more interesting improvement of my way of think and make art.

Take position, assume the condition and the choice to be an artist in a place where I should be treated as such; That makes me missing and drives me to search for a new place to exercise these capabilities.

Last March I spend my Vacations in Salzburg and I could see from really close that the academic environment that can be seen in SEAD is the kind of environment I have tried: Lessons in healthy approaches and new techniques, with great character of experimentalism, young teachers, also entered in the European art field, which provides an exchange of great value to students who receive their lessons, and keep updated the knowledge that circulates within the school, in the meaning of trends, procedures and approaches. Good communication between students and the direction of the school, which makes much difference in the quality of education is received and what they can expect from the institution where they belongs. Offer of space for research work in art and language, without pressure in the frame of style or aesthetics.
All these aspects of what I could see in the few days that I was following the routine of school, added to my desire to put me back in a place where I can exercise my creative potential and go ahead with the poetic proposals that I would to develop, motivates me to apply to this audition at SEAD.

For me it would be of great value to make use of the responsibility I have on my artistic career and I try to insert me in a context where the things I believe are so appreciated for those who educate me as I appreciate. And that, I believe to be the great attraction that the school has to offer: The credibility deposited on ideas and values that are very important to me.

Send Post Cards
Collaboration Work with Márcio Canabarro, with whom I lived for
about a year in Porto Alegre before coming to Europe. Márcio
lives and dance in Salzburg - at Salzburg Experimental Academy
of Dance – SEAD. From there, or other places where he travel, he
sends me post cards with small texts that usually speak about
nostalgia and memory. After received the post cards, I start to
research and keep images, words and other signs in order to form
small motions cells. This new cells are combined with old phrases
of movement wich I reprocess changing the quality and
deconstructing it. From this procedures I took material to
recording two videos wich are published on You Tube and also in
the blog of the Project.
